Winter is not cold this year in China, but the fur clothes market is

Constrained by the current economic structural transformation and the fact that Chinese people used to purchase housing by over-borrowing in the past, accompanied by a large amount of local government debt, China’s current consumer market is extremely weak and is experiencing consumption downgrade. Affected by this macroeconomic environment, coupled with the factor of this year’s warm winter in China, the consumption of genuine leather and fur clothing this winter is very sluggish. As of November 11th, the sales of genuine leather and fur clothing have never really reached a peak. Specifically, most of the offline retail stores of fur clothing currently have a large backlog of clothes in stock. Even for online sales, only a handful of suppliers have relatively large sales volumes. At present, there is a large backlog of both finished garments and furs, which means that both garment manufacturers and fur dealers are short of funds for turnover. Influenced by the consumption downgrade, the sales of cheap artificial fur clothes have been relatively good this year. Meanwhile, the sales of some low-end and low-priced furs from domestic farms in China can still be maintained. Although the sales of finished garments are sluggish, supported by the expectation that the global supply will be significantly reduced, the holders of fur raw materials and finished garments still maintain a certain level of confidence in the future for the time being. There has been no massive situation of selling goods at low prices. However, the dwindling cash flow will limit their future procurement of fur raw materials or the processing of raw materials into finished garments.
